Laser gynecology is a novelty in Lithuania and a whole new range of laser aesthetic gynecological options that can help solve problems such as urinary incontinence, vaginal elasticity, vaginal atrophy or vaginal dryness, which is generally avoided to speak about. Just one 15-minute procedure and after 3 days you will enjoy the results. And that's far from all laser options!

For more than 35 years, Asclepion Laser Technologies, a leading provider of laser equipment and a leader in German market, introduces Juliet-the feminine laser, an innovative laser technology for intravaginal healing.

When performing the treatment of Juliet laser technology, YAG laser is used, which is performed with a low risk of side effects and a minimal healing period. The process is quick, painless and careful.

A woman of different ages is accompanied by a wide range of intimate and sexual experiences, which inevitably involves various vaginal diseases. It can have a significant impact on the quality of a woman's life, both in physical, psychological and sexual terms. Many women who experience unpleasant symptoms such as vaginal bleeding, urinary incontinence, poor vaginal lubrication, vaginal dryness and even pain during sexual intercourse (disparion), do not like to speak even with their gynecologist about these kind of problems. They can be ashamed and think that they are the only ones that are facing such problems. In fact, all these symptoms are quite common in women at different stages of the age, and over time, the symptoms only intensify. This means that it is not a temporary problem and that no symptoms will be transmitted without treatment.

Vaginal relaxation syndrome and its treatments

Research has shown that female orgasm is largely dependent on friction, i.e. vaginal contractions, which are stimulated by mechanical stimulation of the vaginal walls during sexual intercourse. After childbirth, especially when birth is given at an advanced age, the vagina is not restored to its original position, it remains wider, thus reducing the vaginal wall stimulation during sexual intercourse.

Vaginal relaxation syndrome is a fairly common medical condition that is described as a loss of optimal vaginal structure, usually due to childbirth or natural aging. The condition of this syndrome is worsened by pregnancy, childbirth and the onset of menopause, which leads to a decrease in the level of hormones and vaginal atrophy. Most women (and their partners or men) identify vaginal relaxation syndrome as an “enlarged vagina” and complain of a loss of vaginal stiffness, which is directly related to reduced fatigue during sexual intercourse and reduced or completely lost sexual satisfaction.

The market has a wide range of treatment options, from behavioral therapy (Kegel exercises) to pharmacological therapies (hormones, firming creams and sprays) to more or less invasive surgical procedures. Although behavioral and pharmacological procedures are non-invasive and safe, their effectiveness is limited. On the other hand, various surgical procedures can achieve good results, but there is a significant increase in the level of risk. The operation of the vaginal or adjacent sensitive tissues is risky itself and can leave scars, damage the nerves and reduce sensitivity. In addition, the patient needs a long recovery period. The most popular surgical procedures are laser, where the laser is used instead of a scalpel. However, it is still an aggressive surgical treatment that has a long and painful recovery period. Therefore, when the Er: YAG laser appeared in the market, it received a lot of physicians’ attention and the first patient feedback about laser gynecology, both its aesthetic and therapeutic results, is unmistakable as a huge scientific step forward, a mild a solution to address serious problems that are detrimental to quality of life.

Urinary incontinence and its therapies

Every fourth woman in the world complains of varying degrees of urinary incontinence (WHO data). Urinary incontinence is the most common type of stress which is defined as involuntary urinary incontinence during coughing, sneezing or physical activity, for example, in sports or sudden changes in position. The identified risk factors are pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, cognitive impairment, obesity, elderly age.

Urinary incontinence is defined as involuntary urinary incontinence, the severity of which causes social or hygiene problems. This is usually one of the manifestations of pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. Damage of the pelvic nerve and muscle joint during the natural parturition may affect the strength of the pelvic muscle and the nervous reaction and cause urinary incontinence due to tension or load. Scientists have found that metabolism of connective tissue in women with urinary incontinence has changed, resulting in decreased collagen production, leading to decreased urinary tract compliance.

Vaginal atrophy and its treatments

Finally, most women experience symptoms during menopause (usually 45 to 55 years of age) including vaginal dryness, irritation, painful sexual intercourse, poor lubrication, decreased libido and poor vaginal muscle elasticity and tone. This condition is also called vaginal atrophy, when the ovaries produce less estrogen. Gradually thinning of the epithelial tissues of the genitals, vaginal and vulvar mucous membranes, as a result, they become weaker, more irritable and more vulnerable.

Until now, all this has been considered a problem that older women have been avoiding, and treatment was only performed in very rare cases when a serious medical condition (such as prolapse) was recognized. The traditional surgical or pharmacological response is usually a highly invasive solution to these problems, which causes a significant risk of side effects, such as non-healing wounds, post-operative bleeding, or fistula formation.

More and more women are now aware of the possibility of improving the tone and functionality of a particular site, thereby improving the quality of life by using minimally invasive procedures using Aslepion’s Juliet.

With Juliet, treatment is fast, painless and minimally invasive with a low risk of side effects and a minimal healing period. The procedure takes less than 15 minutes and does not require anesthesia. Impairment of symptoms can be observed immediately after the first treatment. The inner lining regains elasticity and lubrication, becomes thicker and softer. Pruritus, irritation and pain during sexual intercourse disappear and the incontinence of urinary incontinence due to stress or strain is significantly reduced, with the result that laser mucosal stimulation is observed. Many women report an improvement in their symptoms during the first month after treatment.
