New! Extremely accurate tuberculosis test for children and adults
QuantiFERON® - TB Gold Plus (QFT®-Plus) is the most advanced and precise way to detect latent and active tuberculosis.
Study specificity: 98%
Accuracy: 95%
What is tuberculosis?
Respiratory Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by TB mycobacterium (TM) (Mycobacterium tuberculosis), spreading through air. The main source of TM is a person with open pulmonary TB. An untreated person with TB can die.
Is this study necessary for people who have been vaccinated in childhood?
Yes. The World Health Organization recommends a QTF®-Plus trial not only for people who have been vaccinated in a child but also for the ones who performed Mantu test. During vaccination, the body takes immunity to tuberculosis only temporarily and not to all its forms.
What is the probability of getting tuberculosis for me?
The rate of morbidity in our country is even several times higher than the European average (in Lithuania, 1 301 people suffered from tuberculosis in 2014, which is 44.4 people per 100 thousand residents, while the European Union average is 12.7 per 100 000 population. to the list of 18 countries in the World Health Organization in the European Region for high incidence of tuberculosis). One person can infect 25 people. Children have the lowest resistance to infections. The disease is spreading through the air, and tuberculosis bacteria remain active for several hours.
Is this test the same as Mantu test?
No, Mantu's test was started more than a century ago. This technology is already outdated and has a fairly low percentage of precision. Mantu test and QFT®-Plus comparison:

During the test, decontaminated microbial proteins are injected into the subcutaneous layer. |
During the study 4.8 ml of blood is taken from the patient's vein. Nothing is injected into the patient's body. |
Incorrect positive response rate - 41% |
Incorrectly positive response rate - 2% |
After the test, you need to go back to your doctor for the assessment of the skin reaction to the test. |
The results of the study are obtained in just a few days; You do not need to register for additional doctor's visit. |
What are the symptoms of tuberculosis?
In severe forms of tuberculosis, it can be motivated: Severe cough lasting for 3 or more weeks, chest pain, sputum or blood clotting, weakness or fatigue, weight loss, loss of appetite, shaking, fever, night sweats.
Unfortunately, in the case of latent tuberculosis, the patient does not feel anything. But finding this form makes it much easier to cure it.
